HERB | COAT OF ARMS, Art Park, 2023

Land art, site specific, Park at the Radziwiłł Palace in Biała Podlaska, Art Park 2023, Galeria Podlaska.

The work refers to the Trąby [Trumpets] coat of arms of Prince Aleksander Ludwik Radziwiłł, thanks to whom the castle in Biała Podlaska was built. The Radziwiłł family of the Trąby coat of arms contributed to the significant development of Biała Podlaska and the region, so it is worth - using modern language - to tag their presence (or leave a watermark, which is also associated with the proposed effect). It can be assumed that a coat of arms used to be a kind of hashtag. I refer to it again in the form of a cut-out on the lawn of the palace park. The cut-out is manual (with the use of scissors), which is a reference to the construction of the castle and the park surroundings - traditional building and creating - calmly, step by step, with due consideration. The legibility of the coat of arms lasts until the grass cut almost to the ground grows back. Such a technique is ecological, and the work initiates reflection on a wide range of topics: the durability of possession, imprinting one's material trace in a specific space and historical space, as well as the aspect of modern digital existence, when at one moment something is a hit (of the Internet) and even faster stops, and no one remembers it anymore.
